With spring happening soon, I figure it’s time to start thinking about cleaning inside my car. There’s a lot of dust, mud, and messy glass (look, having to scrape ice off the inside of the windshield is rough), and I’m wondering what people recommend? I’m thinking of a mini-vac and Armour All wipes should deal with most of it.

I would really not use armour all.

I use this stuff on all my vehicles. I go through BOTTLES of it every season. Can’t recommend enough. Smells nice, safe for all plastics/fabrics and does not leave a greasy finish. It drys matte.

You want something that doesn’t leave a too glossy greasy finish . https://www.walmart.com/ip/Meguiar-s-G13616-Quik-Interior-Detailer-Cleaner-16-oz/16550247

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Meguiar-s-Quik-Interior-Detailer-Wipes/16550252 I use the wipes if I am in a hurry.

I’ve read good reviews on this product but not used it

its not about the product, it’s about the pressure you use

Just enterprise employees cleaning the rental stock.  Nothing to see here.

I use Invisible Glass for the glass, and a damp towel for anything else. A lot of the interior cleaners have solvents that evaporate and then fog up your interior glass. If it’s physically dirty (not just dusty, but stained, caked mud, etc) , I might use some diluted Simple Green to clean whatever needs to be cleaned.

I have used Griots Interior Cleaner on occasion and thought it was ok.

I professionally refurbish textiles, plastics etc (mostly car interiors) and I use soap and water exclusively and only. Any multi purpose cleaner is usually good (think Simple Green or those Purple Power types) always dilute at least 75% with water, add soap if strength needed. Put in a pump spray, eve nly wet surfaces, scrub with towel, soft brush or white Scotch Brite pad then towel dry. Work swiftly on delicate areas like leather that don’t like to be wet for long periods. Careful to avoid any glossy trim when using brushes and scrubbers and towel clean only . Most stains in a car will be protein type along with oils from skin, so a water diluted de- greaser soap usually handles 90% of what you’ll encounter.

That’s a clean to the core clean. Adding armor all only attracts and keeps dirt and looks cheap in my opinion. I use nothing so cleaning remains simple as soapy water and dusting on upkeep and always looks as intended. Leather conditioners are useless as well aside from making more dirt stick. If you prefer armor all by all means, but I’ve been doing this for 19 years and have only seen those products do harm and hide that it’s dirtier than it is. The only plus is it can hide some scratches in high wear areas, but then the slope gets slippery with things not matching so I choose to see the patina.

First you need to really shake the Armour-all bottle up, next you throw it in the nearest garbage can..

Get yourself some of this; Smells nice, leaves a dull clean finish.

Glass gets stoners;

Also I like to have some 303 around. It does good for plastic things in the engine and dash. It doesn’t make things shiny - but it does protect them.

+ 1 on NOT using Armor All. Unless you like a shiny, greasy feeling interior.

I use Griots interior cleaner on all our vehicles and have been pleased with it. No smell and leaves a factory finish on all surfaces.

Glass is the devil and I haven’t found a perfect cleaner yet.

That’s basically what I did to my subaru impreza after having little kids in the back seat for 4 years. I actually removed the rear seat and washed it seperately.

step one for every used car I’ve ever bought, remove interior entirely.

the wife’s last car, and the one the kids ride in most often, was a Rav4 with removable rear seats and carpets and everything. Stripping it down was the ONLY way to get all the goldfish, cheerios, melted crayons, etc etc etc etc

Melted crayons, oh my lord, I almost forgot. There was enough food for an entire meal under that seat.

Like Monkey B says, you can use soapy water.

But generally I use Valet Pro, Enzyme Odour Eater. It’s a cleaner, odour remover and bacterial remover. Also Gtechniq I2ab is a great all surface spray cleaner and anti bacterial for plastics, fabrics, leather, etc...

Vacuum the loose stuff gently pulling open the seams to get rid of all the dust and ingrained crud.

apply the cleaner you wish to use and starting with a microfibre cloth, if that doesn’t work use a soft brush in circular motions, if that doesn’t work, use a stiff nylon brush in straight lines and then vacuum or wipe up with a microfibre cloth.

Mothers has a spray ceramic coating I’ve ordered to test. A former co worker got some at SEMA and has had plus things to say. From how he describes it it leaves a slick feel but no shine and not sticky. It’s just water repellent . If I think it’s good stuff I’ll post on it.

microfiber towels, less cleaner . Sprayway makes a nice aerosol, Invisible glass is OK and available both ways and Hope’s.
